Welcome to my home!  We like to call it 'Camellia Cottage'.  In part because there's a big camellia bush with red blooms growing just outside our front door, but also for what the camellia 'means'.  You see, in Victorian times there was a whole other language called "The language of flowers" , and they used to send messages in a bouquet of flowers, sometimes called a tussie mussie.  Each flower had a different meaning, and by choosing the flowers in your bouquet, you could send a message to your beloved.  Well, in the language of flowers, one of the meanings associated with the camellia is 'contentment', and we love our little cottage here in North Georgia, and are so content here, that we named our home Camellia Cottage.

You see, I think contentment is something that we seem to have forgotten about in this fast paced world in which we live.  Being "HAPPY" is well and good, but while it is usually short-lived contentment can last forever!

I am a retired lady in my mid fifties and my husband still works full time.  I spend a good bit of time at home alone, and have found, after many years of working at a large corporation, that I just love taking care of my family and home.  My immediate family consists of my husband and myself, and our two little girls, Bailey and Bessie, who are miniature Dachshunds, and our special yellow kitty, Oscar.

It's taken a while, but the 'girls' have accepted Oscar, and they have a wonderful time romping around the house, chasing each other in turn, and just having a great time.  If I get up in the middle of the night to get something to drink, Oscar will go in the kitchen with me and swat the dogs to wake them up so they can play.

I have always loved to cook - my mother made sure of that since she started teaching me by the time I was three years old!  But now I find that I enjoy making my home comfortable and welcoming for us, and for anyone who should visit us.

Let me make this perfectly clear!!!  I am not a perfect homemaker, in fact I am perfect at absolutely nothing, but I enjoy trying to make living better and easier for my husband and myself.  I love the smell that comes from a good cleaning, or how nice things look when I just spend a few minutes straightening up.  I just love going to my pantry to get something and being able to find it because I spent 10 minutes last week straightening up the shelves, and I dearly, dearly love preparing a meal for friends and loved ones.

That's what this website is about - just living life the best you can, being thankful and content with what you've got, and sharing love with those around you.   God put us on this earth to love and serve others, so why don't we do that more???

I'll be sharing all kinds of things with you in the future.  Things like my favorite recipes, and some I found online that I just think sound great!  Gardening and decorating your yard.  Tips and tricks for cleaning, laundry, organizing your home.  Crafting projects I may be working on, or ideas for something I find online.  Travel - we just love to travel, and have a camper we take out as often as we can.  I'll share some of my favorite travel websites as well as favorite places we've been in recent years.  So, this is just the beginning - stick around and see what happens in this . . .
